Mr. Joel Hernandez has been proudly serving GPISD Schools for 16 years where he began teaching science at South Grand Prairie High School for his first three years. Mr. Hernandez continued to serve Dubiski Career High School in its inaugural year and Crosswinds High School for the following seven years. Most recently, Mr. Hernandez has been the Assistant Principal at Sallye Moore College & Career Preparatory for the past six years.

Mr. Hernandez graduated from the University of Texas at Brownsville where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry & Biology. He completed his Master of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Science Education at the University of Texas at Arlington. Later, he obtained his Leadership Education Certification through Lamar University.

Mr. Hernandez is excited to serve the learning community at Ellen Ochoa STEM Academy. With the partnership between parents and the greater community, he hopes to continue building on the culture of excellence for student achievement.
